Afghanistan’s Ministry of Interior says 253 drug-addicted people in Herat have recovered after months of treatment and rejoined their families. The Taliban-led government continues its crackdown on narcotics, including recent seizures of opium, heroin, and methamphetamine across multiple provinces.

More than 900 individuals have completed drug rehabilitation programs in Afghanistan’s western provinces and rejoined their families, officials said. The Taliban-led interim government has ramped up anti-narcotic operations, arresting traffickers and seizing large quantities of opium in recent raids.

Acting on information, the team caught one person Dhulram (25), a native of Rajasthan, who was carrying the contraband in a Bolero car.

The suspect along with the seized material was handed over to the Dhoolpet Excise station officials for further enquiry

The seized opium was worth Rs 25 lakh.

Police teams have recovered around 240 kg heroin from across the state just in August.

During the raids, sleuths recovered over 56 kgs of opium estimated to be Rs 40 crore in the international market," the sleuths of the special cell said.

This year, marigold flowers have been cultivated in more than 269 acres and lemongrass in about 50 acres in the entire district.
