Kumram Bheem Asifabad: A court in Asifabad on Monday sentenced a man to three years of imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 30,000 on him on charges of growing ganja in his farm four years ago.
District Sessions Court principal judge MV Ramesh pronounced the verdict awarding the term and fine against Katkawar Rao Singh from Madhura Thanda in Sirpur (U) mandal by finding him guilty for cultivating ganja as an intercrop in his cotton crop. Rao was found growing ganja when cops raided the farm, following a tip-off on October 24, 2021.
The then Sirpur (U) Sub-Inspector Gangaram, in-charge Inspector D Sudhakar and Inspector Hanook took up investigations and established the role of Rao in committing the offence.
Asifabad DSP Sriramoju Chittaranjan commended the police officials for getting the conviction of the case.
