Man killed, wife injured in Sangareddy road accident ahead of panchayat polls

A man was killed and his wife seriously injured in a road accident on NH 161 at Bachepally in Kalher mandal, Sangareddy district, on Saturday night. The couple were travelling from Hyderabad to cast their votes in the gram panchayat elections.

Sangareddy: A man was killed and his wife sustained serious injuries after their bike met with an accident on NH-161 at Bachepally in Kalher mandal on Saturday night.

The couple, natives of Yellareddy in Kamareddy district, were travelling from Hyderabad to their native place to exercise their franchise in the second phase of gram panchayat elections scheduled on Sunday.

According to police, the bike skidded off the road, causing the couple to fall. The husband died on the spot, while his wife suffered severe injuries and was shifted to a hospital for treatment.

Car of former BRS leader torched ahead of polls in Nizamabad

Nizamabad: Some unknown persons set ablaze a car belonging to a former BRS Mandal Parishad President (MPP) at Macherla village in Aluru mandal under Armoor Assembly segment on Friday night.

Police said unidentified persons torched the car of Paska Narasaiah at midnight. Family members of Narsaiah tried to douse the flames, but the car was gutted completely. The incident created a flutter as the village was set to go to polls under the second phase on Sunday.

Based on a complaint received from Narsaiah, a case was registered. Investigation is underway.
