Mancherial: Bellampalli residents stage sit-in against road widening
Residents of Bellampalli town in Mancherial staged a sit-in protest against the widening of Shishu Mandir road, fearing disruption to their livelihoods. The protest halted traffic between Bellampalli and Chinnabudha village for nearly two hours, prompting police intervention.

Mancherial: Residents staged a sit-in on a road protesting against widening of a road in Bellampalli town on Thursday evening.
Residents of different parts on either side of Shishu Mandir road opposed the widening of the stretch, regretting their livelihood would be affected by the work. They said that they had been living in the vicinity for 70 years. They lamented that their lives would be thrown out of gear if the road was widened.
The agitating residents said that the officials were ruining their livelihood in the name of development. They raised slogans against the officials and the government for taking up the work. They urged the civic officials to halt the work. They faulted the officials for commencing the work in the evening and without giving prior information to the dwellers.
Traffic between Bellampalli town and Chinnabhuda village came to a standstill, following the protest causing inconvenience to motorists for nearly two hours. Police arrived at the spot to prevent conflict between the residents and the officials.
The residents, however, withdrew their protest when the officials assured the victims of justice.
