Mancherial police arrest 16 for cockfighting, seize 45 knives

Task force police arrested 16 persons for allegedly indulging in cockfighting on the outskirts of Kallempalli village in Mancherial. Police seized four roosters, 45 knives, 12 mobile phones, 18 motorbikes and Rs 24,040 cash from the accused persons.

Mancherial: Sixteen persons were arrested for indulging in cockfighting on the outskirts of Kallempalli village on Wednesday midnight. Police seized four roosters, 45 knives, 12 mobile phones, 18 motorbikes and cash of Rs 24,040 from the accused persons.

Task Force ACP Srinivas, in a statement, said Kudimetha Sai, Janne Kamalakar, Bandarikanti Kotesh, Telige Sai, Choudari Thirupathi, Athram Sandeep, Mogili Mallesh, Manchala Hanumanthu, Enumula Madhukar, Manepalli Rajanna, Manepalli Vilash, Keerthi Laxman, Karpeta Thirupathi, Dandera Mahesh, Sathpathi Rajashekhar and Domala Mallesh, all from different parts of Vemanapalli and Dahegaon mandals, were arrested.

Following a tip-off, task force teams raided a secluded place on the outskirts around midnight and found cockfighting going on. The arrested persons were handed over to Vemanapalli police for further action.

Ramagundam CP Amber Kishore Jha warned that stern action would be taken against those indulging in unlawful activities. He requested people to share information about illegal activities and those who organise offences. The identity of the informants would not be disclosed, he added.

Task force police produced the accused persons, roosters, mobile phones and motorbikes before the media at Kallempalli village in Vemanapalli mandal on Wednesday night.
