Mancherial: In a novel gesture, Mancherial police constructed a culvert across a water canal at interior Ootla village in Dandepalli mandal as part of community policing on Monday. Mancherial Assistant Commissioner of Police Akhil Mahajan took part in the initiative and set an example to others.
Akhil said that the policemen would not only protect law and order but resolve the challenges of the community. He stated that the cops moved by the dire straits of the dwellers of the remote habitation and came forward to build the structure. He added hume pipes were laid across the canal and then gravel was filled up and the road was repaired. He recalled that he had promised to construct the culvert during recent police martyrs commemoration week.
The IPS officer along with Luxettipet Inspector Kareemullah Khan wielded a spade and participated in the community outreach programme. He then distributed notebooks, pens to tribal children inhabiting the forest fringe village.
He assured them to address major deficiencies of the habitation predominantly dwelled by ethnic tribes. He advised locals to provide education to their kids for a bright future. Dandepalli Sub-Inspector T Srikanth, Sarpanch Srinivas and many others were present.
