Mason held for killing woman for ornaments in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: A mason, G Venkatesh (35), a resident of Golconda and native of Mahabubnagar, was arrested on charges of killing a woman and stealing her ornaments in Golconda last week.
Police said Venkatesh had met the victim, B Chennama (45), a construction worker, at a labour adda in Shaikpet on June 9. He then took her along with him on the pretext of offering work. On reaching Raidurgam, he tricked her into joining him to consume toddy. He then took her to a graveyard, where she fell unconscious after consuming toddy.
“He killed her by hitting on the head with an iron rod. He then stole her silver anklets and other ornaments,” City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar said. The Commissioner’s Task Force (West) and the Golconda police caught Venkatesh, who was produced before court and remanded in judicial custody.
