Hyderabad: The Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT) spokesperson, Amjedullah Khan, has urged Telangana DGP CV Anand to constitute a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the alleged kidnapping and sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl by multiple persons over a period of 38 days.
Amjedullah Khan alleged that the girl was forced by two persons with criminal records to leave her house on June 1. She was later kidnapped and confined by them for around 38 days. The Commissioner’s Task Force rescued the girl from a house in Bandlaguda.
The Falaknuma police registered a case on June 3 after the victim’s mother lodged a complaint. “During the 38-day period, the girl was taken to different places in Hyderabad, Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh and Mumbai. Multiple people allegedly exploited the girl. The local police failed to make adequate efforts to trace her,” Amjedullah Khan said. The Task Force team rescued the girl on July 8 from the Government Dignity Housing Complex in Bandlaguda.
The MBT spokesperson demanded that the Telangana DGP instruct the Hyderabad police to constitute a Special Investigation Team to probe the case. “We have information that organised gangs, on the pretext of providing shelter to runaway girls or girls from other districts who come in search of work, are forcing minor girls into prostitution. If a Special Investigation Team is formed, it will help crack the entire network and also examine previous cases,” Amjedullah Khan said.
