Medak: Man killed after being accused of stealing mobile phone

A 40-year-old man was beaten to death allegedly after being accused of stealing a mobile phone at Mannevari Jalalpur village in Medak. Police are probing the attack and a possible long-standing rivalry between the families involved.

Medak: In a shocking incident, a man was killed after he was accused of stealing a mobile phone at Mannevari Jalalpur village on Tuesday night. The brazen killing of Byagari Ramanujam (40) created tension in the village.

According to locals, the accused Gunde Praveen and his family members stormed into Ramanujam’s residence on Tuesday night accusing him of stealing his mobile phone, which Paveen lost a few days ago. They picked up an argument with him.

Even though he protested his innocence, they attacked him indiscriminately with sticks, which led to his instant death. Praveen registered a case in Veldurthi police station three days ago over the missing of his mobile phone. However, Praveen, who started doubting Ramanujam, attacked him.

Meanwhile, some locals said that Praveen and Ramanujam families had a long standing rivalry. The police, who deployed a huge number of police forces in Mannevari Jalalpur to avoid any further untoward incidents, were probing into the incident.
