Hyderabad: Mild tension prevailed during the Bonalu celebrations at the Ujjaini Mahakali temple on Sunday after a Bonam carried by Jogini Shyamala Devi toppled from her head. The incident occurred at around 4 pm when Shyamala came to the temple along with other Joginis.

Following the incident, the Joginis staged a protest at the temple, treating it as a serious matter. While the protest was underway, Jogini Shyamala fainted at the spot. The Joginis broke down following the incident.

They alleged that the state government’s negligence in not making proper special arrangements for the Joginis at the temple led to the incident.

When contacted, Ujjaini Mahakali Devasthanam Executive Officer Manohar Reddy said he was aware of the incident.
