Following a request from Gnaneshwari, polling officials took up a recount of the votes. In the recount, Lavanya secured two additional votes.

Suspecting discrepancies due to variations in the vote count, officials decided to put the results on hold.

Angered by the decision, Lavanya’s supporters staged a dharna at the counting centre. Police, who were alerted, intervened and pacified the agitating supporters with mild force.

Commissioner of Police Gaush Alam visited the spot and monitored the situation.
