Karimnagar: In the wake of a major robbery in the PMJ jewellery shop, Commissioner of Police Gaush Alam conducted surprise checks in jewellery shops, lodges and hotels in Karimnagar town on Wednesday.
Interacting with the organizers of jewellery shops, CP emphasized the need to arrange eligible security personnel and door frame metal detectors besides hand-held metal detectors to check the people entering the shops.
It was mandatory to arrange a modern ‘emergency alarm’ to alert the police during emergencies. The police should get a siren if the button of the emergency alarm is pressed in the shop.
While renting rooms, lodge organizers should collect Aadhaar or any other ID cards issued by the government. The phone numbers furnished by the customers must be cross-checked whether they were original or fake to verify authenticity.
Police must be alerted if anybody is found suspicious. The working condition of CCTV cameras fixed in business establishments and hotels must be checked frequently. Cameras should have an adequate backup capacity to get clear and clearer visuals.
Stating that police would always be available to protect the properties and lives of the people, CP wanted the business community to continue their businesses by following the police norms and participate in ensuring town safety.
Additional DCP Venkataramana, ACPs Venkataswamy, Venugopal and Nasala Sathish, Inspector Ramchander Rao and others participated in surprise checking.
