Sangareddy: Former Andole MLA and BRS leader Chanti Kranthi Kiran has accused Anil Reddy, brother-in-law of Health Minister Damodara Rajanarasimha, of encroaching on lands falling within the Full Tank Level (FTL) of the Singur multipurpose project, apart from destroying two lakes located near Kadirabad and Saipet villages in Vatpally mandal. The encroachers were allegedly taking advantage of the draining of the Singur project for repairs to encroach on the lands, he claimed.
Following complaints from villagers, Kranthi Kiran and other BRS leaders visited the area recently and found that Anil Reddy and his team, who are close associates of Damodara Rajanarasimha, were destroying Korivi Kunta and Nalla Kunta, two lakes spread across Survey Nos. 420, 422 and 444/2. He further alleged that the bunds and sluices of these water bodies were demolished to erase their existence, in addition to filling up the area with soil to take wrongful possession.
The natural topography of the crucial FTL zone was being flattened to set up private commercial ventures, including a luxury tourism resort and a boating business. Using political influence, Kranthi Kiran further alleged that the encroachers were not only occupying project land adjacent to their existing 70-acre farmhouse property but were also illegally grabbing the lands of small and marginal local farmers located nearby.
To legitimise these illegal occupations inside the project area, the former BRS MLA said attempts were being made to plant religious flags under the false pretext of a pre-existing temple. A power line was allegedly drawn illegally for over a kilometre inside the project area without any prior intimation to or permission from the electricity department, amounting to blatant power theft.
In his representation to Collector Prateek Jain, Kranthi Kiran urged him to order an immediate joint survey by the Revenue and Irrigation departments to demarcate the exact FTL boundaries and assess the extent of the encroachment. Asking the Collector to stop all ongoing illegal levelling, construction and commercial activities in the submergence zone immediately, he demanded that officials take strict legal and criminal action against Anil Reddy and his associates for destroying public property and encroaching on Singur project land.
He urged the officials to restore the destroyed bunds and sluices of Korivi Kunta and Nalla Kunta to their original state. Accusing the officials of turning a blind eye to the encroachments, the BRS leader said that most officials were supporting Anil Reddy.
