Kothagudem: A delegation of journalists submitted a representation to Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, requesting the allotment of housing sites for journalists working in the Kothagudem district headquarters including Kothagudem, Lakshmidevipalli and Chunchupalli mandals.
They met the Minister during his district tour on Sunday and apprised him of their grievances. Journalists, who have long served as a bridge between the government and the public and have helped address various issues, were facing hardships as they lacked homes of their own.
They stated that they have been waiting for housing plots for years and urged the government to ensure justice by fulfilling the promise made to journalists. They recalled that 10 acres of land near the Ramavaram bridge had previously been earmarked for journalists’ housing plots.
However, the allocation process had stalled due to unexplained reasons, they said while appealing to the Minister to expedite the allotment of housing plots to all eligible journalists.
Responding to the request, Minister Srinivasa Reddy acknowledged that the issue of housing plots for journalists was on his agenda and assured them that he would strive to resolve the matter soon.
Journalists and members of the Housing Sites Action Committee including Kalloji Srinivas, Veeru Naik, Nagachandra, Vattikonda Ravi, Tarak, Paparao, Rajesh, Narasimha Rao, Ashok, Purushotham and others were present.
