Farmers protest in Minister Ponguleti’s constituency in Khammam over power cuts
Farmers staged a sit-in at Nelakondapalli in Khammam district on Thursday, alleging frequent power interruptions and only six to 10 hours of supply a day. They contrasted this with 24-hour free power in neighbouring Madhira constituency and demanded an explanation.
Farmers staged protest in Minister Srinivas Reddy’s Palair constituency over power cuts.
Hyderabad: Farmers staged a sit-in protest on a main road at Nelakondapalli mandal headquarters in Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy’s Palair constituency in the district on Thursday.
The protesting farmers alleged that they continue to face hardships under Congress rule and expressed anger at the government’s failure to provide the promised 24-hour electricity supply to the farmers of Nelakondapalli mandal.
The farmers were already troubled with delayed rains, urea shortages and now were facing frequent power interruptions. Farmers just beyond Guvvalagudem in Madhira constituency, represented by Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, were provided with 24-hour free electricity.
But in Palair the farmers were given electricity for only 6 to 10 hours a day. Minister Srinivasa Reddy needs to provide an explanation about the disparities in power supply, the protesters demanded.
