Ministers lay foundation for three Young India Residential Schools in Khammam

The foundation stone for the construction of 28 schools was laid in the first phase and in future such schools would be constructed in every Assembly constituency.

Ministers lay foundation for three Young India Residential Schools in Khammam
Minister P Srinivas Reddy laid the foundation stone for Young India Residential School at Ponnekal in Palair Assembly constituency on Friday.

Khammam: The State government initiated construction of Young India Integrated Residential Schools to impart international standard education to the poor and weaker sections, said Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy.

He along with Khammam MP Ramasahayam Raghuram Reddy and district Collector Muzammil Khan laid the foundation stone for Young India Integrated Residential School at Ponnekal in Khammam rural mandal in Palair Assembly constituency on Friday.


The government has prioritised education and health sectors. About Rs 657 crore was spent to provide basic facilities in government schools through Amma Adarsh School Committees. The government would spend Rs 125 to Rs 150 crore to build Young India Residential Schools, the minister said.

The foundation stone for the construction of 28 schools was laid in the first phase and in future such schools would be constructed in every Assembly constituency. In order to promote sports along with education, the necessary facilities for the students would be provided in the schools.

Sports fields and courts would be set up in the schools to play sports like cricket, football, basketball and tennis in an area of 25 acres. Accommodation facilities would be provided for about 2750 to 3000 students in each school, Srinivas Reddy said.

Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu laid the foundation stone for a similar school at Lakshmipuram village of Bonakal mandal in Madhira Assembly constituency while Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao laid the foundation for a school at In Jinkalathanda village of Raghunathapalem mandal in Khammam Assembly constituency.
