Hyderabad: Launching a blistering attack against the Congress government and its leadership for the worsening law and order in the State and escalating tensions in constituencies such as Malkajgiri in Hyderabad city, BRS leader and Quthbullapur MLA KP Vivekanand Goud said peace and harmony that were the hallmark of the BRS regime were no longer the same.

Addressing a news conference along with party MLC Shambhipur Raju at Telangana Bhavan, he alleged that Mynampally Hanumantha Rao, acting under Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s influence, was resorting to personal attacks and inflammatory rhetoric. If this pattern persists, the fallout could be both serious and unpredictable, he warned.

He said Revanth Reddy had utterly failed in maintaining peace in Telangana. He alleged that Hanumantha Rao was acting like a goon, attacking BRS workers and corporators on the streets. The Congress government was filing illegal cases against corporators from weaker sections to suppress them. He further criticised Hanumantha Rao for his provocative remarks and urged him to gauge public sentiment in Malkajgiri before making such statements.

Recalling Hanumantha Rao’s past association with the BRS, Vivekananda reminded the public that when Hanumantha Rao was denied a ticket by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in 2014, he was provided with a BRS ticket to contest as an MP from Malkajgiri. Despite losing the election, Hanumantha Rao was appointed as the president of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) by the BRS.

“Hanumantha Rao had even thanked the BRS leadership for giving him a political rebirth. Now, being part of the ruling party, he is making baseless allegations against KT Rama Rao, under whose leadership BRS won all seats in Hyderabad,” Vivekanand said.

Vowing to fight Hanumantha Rao both in court and in the public arena, Vivekanand accused him of resorting to “rowdy behaviour” and orchestrating attacks on BRS leaders. Hanumantha Rao and his supporters allegedly tried to attack BRS leaders, including Malkajgiri MLA Marri Rajasekhar, during a cheque distribution programme for the Ashadha Masam Bonalu festival. He claimed that these actions, carried out with the backing of police, were condemnable and would not augur well for any political party.
