Hyderabad: Cutting across party lines, legislators from different parties complained about poor road conditions in their respective constituencies and urged the Congress government to take up repairs at the earliest.
BRS MLA from Jangaon, Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, raised the issue during Question Hour in the Assembly. He stated that from December 2023 till date, not a single road had been repaired and no new road had been laid in his constituency. Due to poor road conditions, RTC officials were expressing helplessness in operating buses on several routes in Jangaon, he said, adding that the Jangaon–Chityal–Kodakandla route was damaged. Under maintenance works, four roads, including Bandanagaram to Katkur and Sundaraiah Nagar to Jangaon, were sanctioned, but work had not commenced even after two years, he complained.
BJP MLA from Sirpur, Palvai Harish Babu, complained about damaged R&B roads in his constituency. Due to poor maintenance and potholes, several accidents had occurred, resulting in loss of lives, he said, adding that families of the deceased were filing cases against police and R&B officials. The 15-km Penchkalpet–Salugupally arterial road, which connects two mandals, was in a poor condition and incidents of RTC bus breakdowns had become a regular feature. Funds were sanctioned under the LWE programme in the past but had lapsed, he said.
Congress MLA from Tandur, Manohar Reddy, complained that the Tandur–Kotipally road was in a bad shape due to lack of coordination between departments. Works on the Kodangal–Chincholi stretch were progressing at a snail’s pace, he said. Congress MLA from Palakurthy, Yashaswini Reddy, said that roads needed to be laid connecting Thorrur to Haripirala, Muripirala to Zafargadh and Mylaram to Guttur.
