Hyderabad: BRS MLC K Kavitha demanded separate bills for 46 per cent BC reservation in education, employment, and politics, warning that a single bill would be challenged in the courts. She criticised the Congress government for manipulating Backward Classes (BC) census data and suppressing opposition voices.
Dismissing the Congress-led caste survey as a sham, she questioned why the 2014 Comprehensive Household Survey conducted during the K Chandrashekhar Rao government showed BC population at 52 per cent, while the new survey claims only 46 per cent. “Why this discrepancy? Why has not the government released its findings?” she asked.
Speaking at a round table meeting organised by Telangana Jagruti in Nagarkurnool on Friday, Kavitha stressed that BC reservations require constitutional protection and called for a nationwide caste census. “If BCs were given their rightful place, India would have surpassed the US and other developed nations in development,” she asserted.
Earlier at Singotam, Kavitha launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, accusing them of orchestrating political vendetta against BRS workers. She warned that the BRS was maintaining a Pink Bbook and everyone who was harassing the BRS cadre without a reason, will be named. “When the time comes, we will expose them,” she warned.
She said Minister Jupally Krishna Rao engineered false cases against BRS activists and failed to ensure justice for Sridhar Reddy, who was brutally murdered. She also said BRS activist Parameshwar was attacked for putting up party banners, questioning Congress’s fear.
