MLC polls: Over 1,300 voters exercise franchise in Karimnagar

Karimnagar: Karimnagar Local Authorities Constituency MLC election went off peacefully in erstwhile Karimnagar district on Friday with 1,320 electors exercising their franchise for a polling percentage of 99.70 per cent. Local bodies’ public representatives including ZPTCs, MPTCs, Corporators and Councilors cast their votes in eight polling stations established across the old district.
Though polling was slow in the morning, it picked up momentum in the afternoon as a number of voters turn on for voting. Ministers, MLAs and other public representatives have exercised their votes in different polling stations. While Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao cast his votes in Sircilla Zilla Parishad polling station, BC Welfare and Civil Supplies Minister exercise his franchise in the Karimnagar ZP office.
Meanwhile, Welfare Minister Koppula Eashwar and Peddapalli MP B Venkatesh Netha cast their votes in Jagtial Mandal Parishad polling station. ZP Chairpersons including Kanumalla Vijaya (Karimnagar), Dava Vasantha (Jagtial), Putta Madhukar(Peddapalli) Nyalakonda Aruna (Rajanna-Sircilla) exercised their votes in different polling stations. Jayashankar-Bhupalapalli district ZP Chairperson Jakkula Sriharshini also cast her vote in Manthani.
Chief Electoral Officer Dr Shashank Goyal visited Karimnagar ZP polling stations in the afternoon and inspected the polling process. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the polling process was being held in all eight polling stations in a peaceful manner. Health and help desks were also established in all polling stations by following Covid norms.
Besides checking body temperature with a thermal scanner, face masks, sanitizers, hand gloves have been supplied to voters before entering into polling stations, he said. District Collector RV Karnan, Commissioner of Police V Satyanarayana, RDO Anand Kumar and others were present.
