Adilabad: Forest Minister Allola Indrakaran Reddy exuded confidence that TRS candidate Dande Vittal will win the Adilabad Local Authorities Constituency (LAC) MLC election with a huge margin.

Speaking to the media after casting his vote at a polling station in Nirmal on Friday, he said Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao called up the Minister and inquired about the trend of the voting.

Legislators and public representatives belonging to the TRS exercised their franchise and were confident of the victory by the candidate fielded by the outfit. Government Whip Balka Suman, MLAs Jogu Ramanna, Diwakar Rao, Durgam Chinnaiah, Athram Sakku, Rekha Naik, Rathod Bapu Rao, Koneru Konappa and G Vittal Reddy cast their votes as ex-officio members.

MLC polls pass off peacefully

Erstwhile Adilabad district recorded over 90 per cent polling in the Local Authorities Constituency (LAC) MLC election on Friday.

According to the officials, composite Adilabad district saw 91.78 per cent of voting till 4 pm. In all, 860 of the 937 electors exercised their franchise. As many as eight polling stations were set up for the polls.

A polling station in Mancherial district headquarters recorded 90 per cent polling followed by a station of Adilabad town which witnessed 87 per cent of turnout of electors. A polling station situated in Nirmal district headquarters registered 83 per cent of voting and Bhainsa polling station had 59 per cent of voting. The other four polling stations saw below 50 per cent of voting. Significantly, a station in Utnoor mandal centre had 24 per cent of voting.

Meanwhile, Telangana Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Shashank Goel inspected the polling stations in Adilabad and Mancherial district centres. He said that the process of voting was going on peacefully. He was accompanied by Collectors Sikta Patnaik and Bharati Hollikeri.
