Kothagudem: In a key development following the recent killing of top Maoists in Maredumilli encounters, the CPI (Maoist) Maharashtra-Madhya Pradesh-Chhattisgarh Special Zonal Committee (MMCSZC) Spokesperson Ananth has announced they were ready to lay down arms and join mainstream life.
In an open letter released to the media and addressed to Chief Ministers of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh-Devendra Fadnavis, Vishnu Deo Sai and Mohan Yadav- as well as Chhattisgarh Home Minister Vijay Sharma, he asked the respective governments to give them a breathing space till February 15, 2026, to reach a consensus.
Ananth said that the MMCSZC intends to lay down arms in the wake of the decision by the Maoist Central Committee and politburo member Sonu Dada (Mallojua Venugopal) to quit the armed struggle in view of the changing situations in the country and the world.
Central Committee members Satish Dada and Chandranna have also expressed the same views. Stating that the time period might look long, and there was no hidden motive behind it. The time sought was within the deadline of March 31, 2026, set by the government to end the Maoist movement, Ananth said.
Since there were no means for speedy communication among the Maoist leaders in the three States, it would take a certain amount of time to reach one another. The Maoist party decides matters based on democratic centralism, and they have to consult each other to make a collective decision, he said.
The Spokesperson further urged the three States to halt their anti-Naxal operations, both armed actions and spying activities, during the above time period, including the upcoming PLGA Week. The Maoist party would also refrain from observing the PLGA Week; cease all their activities, and the result would be a positive one, he assured.
Ananth wanted the three States to telecast the MMCSZC’s message as well as the government’s response on their radio services so that it could reach all the Maoist cadres, who depend on radio to get to know about the news. He also urged the Maoist cadres to cease all their activities.
While asking the governments to create an amicable condition for the process to move ahead, he wanted the governments to let the zonal leaders to contact a few public representatives and journalists to make a proper decision to fix a date for their surrender.
