Rajanna Sircilla: Launching a scathing attack against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP State leadership, IT and Industries Minister K T Rama Rao said Modi had committed the cardinal sin of questioning the formation of Telangana State.

“Eight years ago, on this day (February 18), Parliament unanimously passed the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill that facilitated formation of Telangana State. But, the Prime Minister is now raking up baseless issues stating that the bifurcation was done in a hasty manner,” Rama Rao said.

“Modi, during his visit to AP once, said the bifurcation process was a hasty affair. We kept quiet. The Prime Minister again raised the issue in Parliament recently, and that was testing our patience. There is no sparing anyone who speaks against Telangana or Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao who waged a 14 year battle for Statehood, putting his life at risk,” he said.

Slamming the Prime Minister for his remarks that the bifurcation bill was passed without any discussion and after switching off the mikes, the Minister it was unfortunate that Modi does not even know about Parliament functioning. “Whenever a bill comes up for voting, the doors of the House are closed,” Rama Rao said, addressing party workers here on Friday.

Stating that TRS was now ready to give a fitting reply to the saffron party at every level in the State, the TRS working president said Modi has never extended any support to Telangana. “Instead, he questions the State formation. When the Prime Minister and BJP question the formation of Telangana, should they be allowed to have any existence in Telangana,” he asked. “Is Modi the Prime Minister for Uttar Pradesh or Uttarakhand and not Telangana? Why do you nurse a grudge against Telangana and and its people?” he asked.

“The Prime Minister gave various slogans including one nation-one election, one nation-one ration card, one nation-one registration. The one mistake that people made was believing Modi in 2014 and electing him to power,” Rama Rao said. People elected him with the hope that he would change their lives, but forget changing lives, Modi is now bent on even selling the life insurance company, he said.

Stating that Telangana was marching ahead in development despite the Centre’s non-cooperation, the Minister pointed out that Niti Aayog had recommended sanction of Rs.24,000 crore to Telangana for drinking water connections to every household under Mission Bhagiratha and Mission Kakatiya programmes. But not even 0.24 paise was released, he explained.

“The BJP can stoop to any level. The Central government shamelessly copied Telangana’s Mission Bhagiratha and the Prime Minister announced Har Ghar Jal programme,” he said.

Terming the BJP slogan of ‘Saab ka saath-saab ka vikas’ a bakhwas, he said the Prime Minister cannot list out even one welfare measure for the farming community or Dalits in the last eight years. “All he can come up with is India and Pakistan issue,” Rama Rao lashed out.

Exposing BJP State president and Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar’s failures, he said it has been three years but has not managed to get even three paisa for Rajanna Sircilla district. “Telangana has been appealing for powerloom cluster in Sircilla for the last eight years. Many requests were made to different union Ministers but not a single paisa has been sanctioned,” he said.

“Why should we elect such people? He asked. The Minister said BJP claims to be a Hindutva party.

“Who is stopping the BJP to develop Vemulawada Rajanna or Bhadrachalam temples. I challenge Sanjay to get Rs.1000 crore package for development of the temples,” Rama Rao said.

Lashing at union Tourism Minister Kishan Reddy, Rama Rao said the former called Medaram jatra a mini Kumbh Mela. “The Centre sanctioned a mere Rs.2.5 crore, while Kumba Mela in Uttar Pradesh was sanctioned Rs.375 crore,” he pointed out.
