Moghalpura police identify second victim in Shahalibanda fire incident

Moghalpura police have identified the man killed in the Shahalibanda road fire as realtor Mir Sajjad Ali of Khilwat. Sajjad was struck by a shutter piece ripped apart during explosions at Gomathi Electronics while riding his scooter. His family, after filing a missing complaint, identified his belongings and later confirmed the body at Osmania General Hospital.

Hyderabad: The Moghalpura police have finally established the identity of the man, who was killed during the fire incident at Shahalibanda road on Monday night.

The victim Mir Sajjad Ali, a realtor and a resident of Khilwat was going on a scooter on the Shahalibanda road when a big piece of the shutter, which was ripped apart following explosions at the Gomathi electronics, hit him, causing his death.

The police could not establish the identity of the man and had preserved the body at the Osmania General Hospital mortuary pending identification. The family members of Sajjad, had made a complaint at Hussainialam police station on Tuesday and a missing man case was booked.

After a lookout notice was circulated by Moghalpura police seeking public help in identifying the man, the relatives of Sajjad checked the Moghalpura police station.

The family identified a few articles including the wallet of Sajjad. They were then taken to the Osmania General Hospital mortuary where they identified the body as that of Sajjad. The body was handed over to the relatives.

According to the relatives, Sajjad had dinner at his house and left on some work towards Aliabad. On the way, he suffered injuries when the compressor exploded and caught fire at the Gomathi electronics on Shahalibanda road.

So far two persons including the store owner Shivakumar Bansal died in the fire incident and five persons are undergoing treatment.
