Hyderabad: After nearly eight years, the Telangana Transport Department has revised service charges for various transactions, making motorists pay more for availing departmental services.

The revised charges came into effect from July 28, with some services witnessing a four-fold increase. The government approved the proposal after receiving recommendations from the Transport Commissioner.

However, the department clarified that the revision does not apply to permits, vehicle fitness assessments, taxes on vehicles from other States, permit cancellations, life tax, and quarterly tax.

The move is expected to boost revenue for the department while aligning charges with operational costs.
