Karimnagar: Choppadandi MLA Sunke Ravishankar said Rajya Sabha MP Joginipalli Santhosh Kumar was educating people to protect environment by planting trees through his Green India Challenge programme.
The MLA on Monday participated in a free meal distribution programme organised on behalf of the MP at agricultural market yard here during the last even days. He distributed meals to hamalies and other needy people.
Speaking on the occasion, Ravishankar said in order to take forward the Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s brainchild Haritha Haram programme, Santhosh Kumar has started Green India Challenge and got appreciations from various sections of the society including the Prime Minister Narendra Modi appreciated by personally writing a letter to the MP. Santhosh Kumar developed a practice to ‘love nature and pray nature’ through the green challenge initiative. The MP encouraged the people to take up plantation through Kotivrukshostavam and seed Ganesh programmes.
Earlier, people used to greet others by offering bouquets. However, now, people are greeting by presenting saplings, he said, adding that Santhosh Kumar was a humanitarian who provided food to migrant labourers. Every day, about 200 needy people were distributed meal at agriculture market yard, he said.
