Mulugu: District Collector S Krishna Aditya directed the officials to speed up the development works being taken up for the Medaram jatara in Mulugu district on Thursday.
He along with Additional Collector Tripathi and other officials inspected the developments at Medaram Samma-Sarakka shrine and held a review meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said that they had prepared plans required to organise the Medaram biennial jatara in a grand manner. Inspecting the arrangements at the field level, he directed the officials to renovate the electronic media viewpoint. He also asked them to prepare plans to convert temporary toilets into permanent ones.
“All the authorities should thoroughly examine the Medaram jatara’s videos and photographs of the last three years and take steps to fill the gaps in sanitation and other issues,” he said and asked the officials to begin the exercise to issue the tenders by following the prescribed rules and regulations.
The officials were also directed to undertake the construction of cooking sheds at five places. It may be recalled here that the State government had released Rs 75 crore a week ago for the arrangements, although the district administration had reportedly sought Rs 120 crore for the works that include civil and non-civil works. The four-day Medaram jatara, which is said to be Asia’s biggest tribal congregation, is scheduled to begin on February 16.
