Mulugu: Mangapet police along with CRPF personnel arrested an alleged drug peddler and seized Rs 90 lakh worth 612 kg of dry ganja during a vehicle checkup at Thimmapet crossroad in the district on Tuesday, said SP Sangram Singh Patil on Wednesday.
The accused has been identified as Vembati Rajashekhar (28), the driver of the van in which the ganja is being smuggled. “The accused hails from Kalleda village of Kaddem mandal in the Nirmal district,” the SP said adding that four other accused in the case were absconding. “We will soon nab the other smugglers soon,” he said and added they had loaded the vehicle with the dry ganja purchased from unidentified persons in the forest areas of Mothugudem in the district.
The police have seized a van (AP 28 BQ 2447) and a mobile phone from the accused.
