Hyderabad: Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister D Anasuya extended a financial assistance of Rs.3.44 crore to 172 women from Self Help Groups (SHGs), who were relocated from the Musi riverbed areas to other places as part of the Musi Riverfront project.
Each woman has been extended assistance of Rs.2 lakh. Of these, Rs.1.40 lakh was being offered as subsidy and the balance of Rs.60,000 has to be repaid by the beneficiaries in three years, she said at Praja Bhavan here on Friday.
This apart, the women would be extended different employment opportunities under the Indira Mahila Shakthi scheme. The government has also offered double bedroom houses to the oustees, besides providing free education and admission in Anganwadi centres, the Minister said.
AIMIM MLA Ahmed Bin Balala said when floods occurred in River Musi, many residents from Malakpet used to be relocated to rehabilitation centres. As many as 130 families have now been shifted to double bedroom houses community at Pilligudiselu near Chanchalguda.
Many residents on the Musi banks had suffered a lot and all their issues have been addressed. A RO water plant would be established in the community for the convenience of residents, he added.
