Soma’s always been a quiet and reserved boy. He likes playing around, is good with his studies and he’s always kind to everyone around him. He was always the poster child in every aspect a parent could ever desire.
However, a few months ago Soma started to fall sick. His temperatures would peak high and he’d often have issues digesting food.
At first, we didn’t think much of it but as time progressed and his situation got worse, we rushed him to the hospital.

My husband and I sat there in the waiting room, hoping to hear back a string of good news. Alas, we were fated to heartbreak as nothing could have prepared us for what the doctors told us next.
“Mrs Jayasri, your son Soma has been diagnosed with Juvenile Myelomonocytic Leukaemia, a rare form of blood cancer and he needs urgent treatment if he is to survive it.”
I couldn’t believe it. My little Soma, only four years of age, was already forced into a fight for his life. We were devastated when we heard the news.
But the blows just kept coming, as we later found out what Soma needed to survive.

Soma needed a Bone Marrow Transplant, the costs for which were estimated to be around Rs 20 Lakhs ($ 27380.74).
“I’m afraid we can’t afford to wait much longer. Soma’s condition has now deteriorated to the point where we can’t guarantee the transplant succeeding if we wait further,” the doctors have added.
My husband’s a motorcycle mechanic. He barely earns for the lights in our house to stay on, let alone afford tremendously large medical bills.
We’ve borrowed money from friends and family, and taken out loans just to be able to keep Soma in the hospital but have now run out.
Our only hope now lies with you.

My husband and I came from poor backgrounds, deprived of everything but the basic necessities. We always planned to give Soma the life we always craved but never were fortunate enough to obtain, alas that seems like a pipe dream now.
“Mumma, please take me home. I don’t like being here, the people keep hurting me. I just want to go home,” my little boy cried out to me.
My son does not deserve a life full of pain. He’s only four years old and is being subjected to the horrors no one should be going through.
Please help us! We are in dire need of help. Only your donations can help us fund his treatment.
