Nagarjuna Sagar by-poll: 41 candidates in the fray
Among leading political parties, former Minister K Jana Reddy is contesting the elections on the Congress ticket, while the ruling TRS has fileded late Nomula Narasimaiah's son Nomula Bhagath
Hyderabad: After withdrawal of nominations on Friday, 41 candidates have remained in the fray for Nagarjuna Sagar by-polls to be held on April 17.
With all political parties contesting the elections keenly, 72 candidates had filed their nominations for the by-polls. About 19 candidates have withdrawn their nominations where the withdrawal of nominations commenced from April 1. On April 2, three candidates withdrew their nominations followed by 16 candidates on Saturday which is the last day for withdrawal of nominations.
After final withdrawals, 41 candidates are in the fray. Among leading political parties, former Minister K Jana Reddy is contesting the elections on the Congress ticket, while the ruling TRS has fielded late Nomula Narasimaiah’s son Nomula Bhagath as it’s candidate. Ravi Kumar Naik is representing the BJP.
The by-polls for Nagarjuna Sagar constituency are being conducted following the death of TRS MLA Nomula Narasimaiah. The counting of votes will be held on May 2, followed by announcement of results.
