Minor fire at Yadadri Thermal Power Station, repairs to be completed in 10 days

Hyderabad: A minor fire broke out in Unit-1 of the 5×800 MW Yadadri Thermal Power Station (YTPS) at Dameracherla, Veerlapalem, in the early hours of Monday.
The incident, reported at 12.10 am, caused limited damage to cables and slopes, with fuel oil leakage identified as the cause, according to an official statement.
The unit is still under trial operation by BHEL and has not yet reached Commercial Operation Date (COD), the power plant officials clarified in a release.
Following the incident, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, TGGENCO CMD Sandeep Kumar Sultania, BHEL CMD K Sadashiva Murthy, and senior engineers from TGGENCO and YTPS reviewed the situation through video conference.
BHEL assured that unit operations could resume by Tuesday and that the incident would not affect the overall functioning of the plant. Full repairs are expected to be completed within seven to 10 days
