Hyderabad: A Nampally court on Tuesday granted bail to BRS MLCs T. Madhusudhan Reddy alias Tatha Madhu and Naveen Reddy in a case registered over their alleged derogatory remarks against Telangana Legislative Assembly Speaker G Prasad Kumar.

While rejecting the police remand plea, the court granted them bail on furnishing a personal bond of Rs. 20,000 each along with two sureties. The court adjourned the next hearing to September 17 and directed both MLCs to appear in person on that day.

Saifabad police arrested the two MLCs on Tuesday morning and produced them before the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court at Nampally, seeking judicial custody. The arrests followed a complaint lodged by Pollepalli Venkatesham, Officer on Special Duty to the Assembly Speaker.

The case was registered as Crime No. 364/2026 under Section 352 read with Section 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections 3(1)(r), 3(2)(va) and 3(2)(vii) of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

The case relates to the developments outside the Assembly on Monday, when BRS legislators staged a protest and clashed with police personnel after being stopped from entering the Assembly premises. Police alleged that Madhusudhan and Naveen Reddy made derogatory remarks against the Speaker during the confrontation.

Madhusudhan, however, denied insulting the Speaker and maintained that his remarks were directed at police personnel during the confrontation. The BRS also criticised the arrests, alleging that the Congress government was targeting Opposition leaders.

Following the arrests, BRS leaders and workers staged a protest outside the Narayanguda Police Station, demanding the release of the two MLCs.
