National Unity Day: Sardar Patel’s contribution recalled
The day commemorates the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the first Home Minister of India, who played a crucial role in the merger of Princely State with the Union of India

Hyderabad: Pallavi International School, Gandipet, Hyderabad celebrated Rashtriya Ekta Diwas also known as National Unity Day. The day commemorates the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the first Home Minister of India, who played a crucial role in the merger of Princely State with the Union of India. Pallavi School conducted literary and cultural activities to mark the occasion virtually. Essay writing, slogan writing and poster making on national unity themes were held on October 30. Students of grades VI to IX took part in various activities with great enthusiasm.
The virtual assembly conducted on October 31 was hosted by Ranya and Soha Sheikh of grade IX. Students from various grades spoke about the importance of the day and the contribution of Sardar Patel as India’s first Home Minister.
Students also presented a wonderful rendition of Mile Sur Mere Tumhara in collaboration with school music facilitator Leo. Dance on tunes of various traditional music was also presented.
Speaking at the event, Principal Meetali Archit highlighted the importance of unity and diversity and how unity in diversity enhances the quality of teamwork. She said that Sardar Patel’s role was vital in unifying India. The glimpses of Last year’s celebration “Run for Unity” made participants nostalgic. The assembly ended with an interactive quiz, Pledge by the school head girl and the National anthem.
