Hyderabad: The archaeological explorations by teams of Kotha Telangana Charitra Brundam in Kondapaka, Siddipet are leading to the emergence of new significant discoveries.
Siddipet district’s Kondapaka is renowned for its prehistoric archaeological sites, Rashtrakuta sculptures, Kakatiya inscriptions, and temples. As explorations continue, numerous historical artifacts are surfacing like springwater.
Since yesterday, the team led by archaeologist Ahobilam Karunakar from the Kotha Telanganacharitrabrundam has been excavating on the Patigadda mound in Kondapaka.
In addition to their previous finds, they have newly discovered three Neolithic axes and a Satavahana-era terracotta torso of a royal figure wearing a breastplate.
In the same area where handfuls of colorful glass beads, an ivory dice, Neolithic axes, a double-edged stone axe, terracotta figurine fragments, and iron slag were found, new archaeological treasures have been unearthed.
Sriramoju Haragopal, Convenor, Kotha Telangana Charitra Brundam, urges the Telangana Heritage Department to conduct a scientific exploration here. The history team appeals to the government to focus on this village before its valuable archaeological wealth is scattered.
