New Small Arms Range Established with limited resources for NCC Cadets Training in Adilabad
Hyderabad: To enhance NCC cadet training, a new miniature Small Arms Range (SAR) has been developed on the A1 Defence land of the erstwhile Aerodrome in Adilabad. Given the challenges of transporting cadets to the police firing range at Sunkedi, 15 km away, the local range will significantly streamline training requirements, a press release said on Thursday.
The initiative is led by Col Vikas, the Officer Commanding 32 Telangana Battalion and his team, duly drawing from experience in the armed forces and using local resources.
The temporary structure ensures safety and provides a sustainable solution, promoting cadet training while inherently preventing land encroachment, it said
The range has been specifically designed for .22 rifles to introduce cadets to firing. The trials for the small range have already been conducted successfully by the Unit, it said
There is no NCC Training Academy in the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, it said, adding that the NCC Units are left to fend for themselves to find training facilities and are largely dependent on educational institutions and police training academies to conduct NCC camps.
