Kothagudem: Bicycles were donated to poor students by Chetana Foundation here on Saturday.
At a programme held here, DRO Ashok Chakravarthy handed over the bicycles to six students of Leprosy Colony to help them go to school. The students were forced to traverse several kilometres on foot from their colony on the outskirts of the town to their schools and colleges.
The DRO asked the students to study hard and excel in their lives. He lauded the kind gesture of the foundation. VJAC Chairman Sathish Gundapuneni said the foundation has in the past provided notebooks, school bags, laptops and solar lights to orphans and poor students and appreciated its charity works.
Afterwards the guests at the programme celebrated the birth anniversary of famous physics scientist Stephen Hawking. They advised the students to draw inspiration from the scientists’ life to grow in life by taking advantage of opportunities at hand.
District Divyanga Udyoga Sangham president Malothu Jaggu Das, journalist Suguna Rao, VJAC district convener Kati Nageswara Rao, TVPS general secretary Medi Praveen, Chand Pasha, Venkateshwarlu, K Babu Reddy and others were present.
