Jagtial: In an inhuman incident, the cremation of an elderly woman was postponed by over six hours as her house was locked by her relatives, in Jagtial town.

Sadulla Sattemma’s husband Laxman died 20 years ago. As the couple had no children, she registered her properties on the names of her brother-in-law’s children after her husband’s death.

On Tuesday, Sattemma (85) died of ill-health while undergoing treatment in hospital.

When her body was brought home, her brother-in-law’s children refused to allow it inside the house and left the spot after locking the house.

The body was kept outside the house for six hours.

The local people informed the police about the incident, after which personnel rushed to the spot, broke open the doors and took the body inside.

Instead of performing the final rites themselves, Sattemma’s relatives engaged some private persons for the same.
