Hyderabad: Continuing to claim a ‘special bond’ with the BJP-led Centre, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Sunday said he had no intentions of fighting with the Modi government, from whom he was managing to get debt restructuring packages and approvals.

Addressing a Meet the Press programme of the Hyderabad Press Club here, Revanth Reddy, however, hit out at Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, alleging that industries interested in investing in Telangana were being diverted to Gujarat at the behest of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Chief Minister, who had earlier this year said that State leaders and officials were looked up as if they were chappal thieves in New Delhi, said there was a change in the Centre’s approach. But for Kishan Reddy raising objection to a few projects, other Union Ministers were extending support, he said, citing the JBS-Shamirpet elevated corridor, Rs 26,000 crore debt restructuring package, the northern part of RRR and so on.

He also claimed that Congress would continue to be in power till 2034. “From 1994 to 2004, the TDP ruled for 10 years, and from 2004 to 2014, the Congress was in power in erstwhile Andhra Pradesh. From 2014, the BRS ruled Telangana for almost 10 years, and again from 2024 to 2034, the Congress will be in power. This is a determined mandate by the people,” he claimed.

Interestingly, Revanth Reddy had very less to talk about what his own government did, and instead said the people of Jubilee Hills should look at what the Congress government did from 2004 to 2014. Claiming that his government was continuing welfare schemes introduced by the previous BRS regime, he alleged that BRS MLAs had not approached him for any public issues. However, he did not say anything about Congress MLAs, including Mahabubnagar legislator Yennem Srinivas Reddy, Jadcherla legislator J Anirudh Reddy and others, complaining about disparity in fund allocation to his Kondangal constituency and their constituencies.

Admitting that he did not have representatives in Greater Hyderabad, the Chief Minister said that due to the support extended in the Old City, Metro works were launched from Gowliguda to Chandrayangutta and other works. Claiming that he secured defence lands from the Centre for executing the elevated corridor project, he exuded confidence that the Congress would win the Jubilee Hills bypoll.

He also said that with the One Nation One Election proposal, the next Jamili elections would be held in June 2029 and not in December 2028.
