Noted poet Dr. Penna Shiva Rama Krishna conferred with Kaloji award

Hyderabad: The Prajakavi Padma Vibhushan Kaloji Narayana Rao award 2021 was presented to popular poet and retired lecturer Dr. Penna Shiva Rama Krishna on Thursday as part of late Kaloji Narayana Rao’s birth anniversary celebrations.
Tourism Minister V Srinivas Goud and Home Minister Mohd Mahmood Ali presented the award to the poet at a special programme organized at Ravindra Bharathi here. Apart from Rs.1,01,116 cash prize, Penna Shiva Rama Krishna, a native of Nalgonda, was presented with a memento and was felicitated by the Ministers.
Remembering the yeomen services of legendary writer and poet Kaloji Narayana Rao, the State Government was celebrating his birth anniversary as Telangana Language Day, Tourism Minister said while addressing the gathering.
He said the Telangana Government was presenting annual awards on the name of late Kaloji Narayana Rao to eminent personalities in the field of literature. The government has also decided to name the Kala Kshetram after Kaloji Narayana Rao.
Meanwhile, the birth anniversary celebrations of Kaloji Narayana Rao were conducted on a grand note across the State. Special programmes were organized by different organisations at few places to commemorate the celebrations.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao conveyed his greetings to the people on celebrating the Telangana Language Day marking the birth anniversary of people’s poet and Padma Vibhushan awardee Kaloji Narayana Rao.
Floral tributes were offered by Additional DG Rajeev Ratan at DGP Office here. At several places, the statues of Kaloji Narayana Rao were garlanded by Ministers and leaders to mark the occasion.
In Mahabubnagar, Additional Collector Nandalal Pawar offered floral tributes to the portrait of Kaloji Narayana Rao and said the legendary poet had sacrificed his life for the cause of Telangana.
