Hyderabad: State BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar here on Thursday alleged that government officials were creating confusion among farmers on cultivating paddy. He clarified that the Centre would purchase every grain of the crop.
Sanjay, who observed deeksha at the State BJP office here in support of farmers, demanded that the officials who made remarks against cultivating paddy should withdraw their statements.
He took exception to the State government not extending Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) to farmers in Telangana. He sought to know whether the State government will provide compensation to farmers who suffered losses.
“The BJP will not tolerate anyone trying to create problems for farmers in the State,” Sanjay said, adding that the party would intensify its agitation in support of their farmers.
The State government should inform the Centre about the extent of paddy to be sent to the Food Corporation of India (FCI).
