Hyderabad: In the wake of India’s ‘Operation Sindoor,’ several Pakistani social media accounts are circulating a video claiming that the Pakistan Air Force has shot down another Indian fighter jet.

However, the Press Information Bureau’s Fact Check unit (PIB Fact Check) has debunked the claim, confirming that the video is misleading and unrelated to any recent events.

The now viral video shows the crash of an Indian Air Force Mirage 2000 that took place in February 2025 near Shivpuri, Gwalior. According to the PIB, the aircraft went down during a routine training mission, and the incident had no connection to the current military operations.

“The video being shared is from February 2025,” the @PIBFactCheck account clarified. “It falsely claims that Pakistan has shot down an Indian jet. This is fake news.”

The fact-check comes amid a surge in online misinformation following India’s high-intensity strikes under Operation Sindoor targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

Officials have urged citizens and media outlets to verify content through official channels before sharing, as misinformation could further escalate tensions.
