Hyderabad: The threat posed by the latest coronavirus variant, Omicron, has prompted authorities here to postpone the Sunday Funday programme at Tank Bund.
Urban Development Special Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar tweeted on Wednesday saying in view of the uncertainties regarding the new coronavirus variant and keeping precaution as a priority, the event would not be held this Sunday.
“In view of the uncertainties regarding #Omicron coronavirus variant & as a matter of abundant precaution, the Sunday-Funday event shall not be held this Sunday ie Dec 5,” (sic) he tweeted.
He however said Tank Bund would be vehicle-free as usual on Sunday. The timings have not been made clear yet and there was no word on whether the Funday’s Old City version, ‘Ek Shaam Charminar Ke Naam’, would also be postponed.
