Farmers check their mobile phones for message on Rythu Bharosa funds, at Mallapuram Village Yadadri Bhongir district on Monday.
Hyderabad: The first day after the launch of four welfare schemes by the State government saw complaints from multiple sections. Many farmers, especially small and marginal ones, complained that they had not received the promised financial assistance under Rythu Bharosa.
Similar complaints were aired by landless labourers as well. There were several complaints from hopeful beneficiaries of other schemes, including Indiramma Indlu.
With the State government implementing four schemes in one village under each mandal on saturation mode, there was a lot of anxiety among farmers. On the first day, many said Rythu Bharosa assistance was not deposited into the bank accounts of small and marginal farmers owning lands up to one acre.
As only one village was identified under each mandal, farmers in neighbouring villages crosschecked with those who had received money in their accounts. The same was the case with landless labourers, as many were anxious about receiving assistance.
Amidst these complaints, a panchayat secretary was threatened with dire consequences by a Congress leader in Rayaparthy mandal of Warangal. After learning that his name was not included in the Indiramma Indlu beneficiaries, a local Congress leader, V Ravinder, threatened Vankatodu thanda secretary Abhilash that he would eliminate him. Abhilash immediately lodged a complaint with the police.
In Peddapalli, Prabhakar, a labourer, died by suicide after learning that his name was not included in the beneficiary list for Indiramma Indlu. A resident of Kishtampet under Srirampur mandal, Peddapalli, Prabhakar raised the issue with officials as well, his cousin Purushotham said in a video that is going viral on social media platforms.
In an interesting case, P Nagarani lodged a complaint to the Jangaon District Collector stating that her house at Ganeshvada in the town was allotted to four other under the Indiramma Indlu scheme.
In the complaint, Nagarani said her family had been living in the house for the last 35 years. She said four people had applied for houses under Indiramma Indlu, and all four women were allotted houses with the same house number. She also claimed that the Aadhar numbers of the four applicants also had the same house number and appealed to the Collector to fix the issue.
Meanwhile, contradictory statements were issued by Ministers over the implementation of the four schemes in the State. Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister D Anasuya said the schemes were launched in 561 villages across the State. Proceedings were issued to 42,267 beneficiaries under new ration cards, 72,406 beneficiaries under Indiramma Indlu and the amount was being deposited into the accounts of 3.07 lakh beneficiaries under Rythu Bharosa and 20,336 under Indiramma Atmeeya Bharosa, the Minister said.
Plans were being laid to extend benefits to all eligible persons in all the villages before March 31. On Monday alone, funds were released to deposit the amount into 18,180 landless labourers under Indiramma Atmeeya Bharosa, she said. However, Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao said Rs.569 crore was deposited into the accounts of 4.41 lakh farmers in 577 villages in 563 mandals under the Rythu Bharosa scheme.
