Hyderabad: The one-day strike organised by agro-dealers was successful on Monday. Across the country, seed and fertiliser shops went on a voluntary strike demanding a reduction in transportation charges on fertilisers, the supply of fertilisers without any ‘linking’ (tied-selling) of other products, and a reduction in fertiliser prices.
In response, approximately 20,000 shops across Telangana remained closed and participated in the strike. The dealers expressed their protest and criticised the current conduct of fertiliser companies.
The State president of Telangana Agro Dealers Association, Gourishetti Muninder stated that the implementation of the ‘Urea App’, which is not used anywhere else in the country, is causing numerous difficulties for farmers. He demanded its immediate removal.
The State president emphasised the need to lower prices to ensure that the financial burden on farmers does not increase. State Secretary of the Dealers Association, Ravinder also participated in the programme.
