Hyderabad: Branding the Congress government’s newly introduced ‘Urea App’ a symbol of its incompetence and anti-farmer stance, BRS working president KT Rama Rao said on Saturday that the public had taught a fitting lesson to the ruling party leadership that has been deceiving all sections of the State for the past two years.
Speaking at an Atmeeya Sammelanam meet with newly elected BRS-backed Sarpanches, Deputy Sarpanches and ward members of Tandur in Telangana Bhavan, he lashed out at the Congress for systematically weakening the agricultural sector and obstructing the implementation of welfare schemes. Urging immediate relief for rural communities, he said the ruling party was acting with vengeance against them so far.
He came down heavily on the government for sidelining crucial farmer-centric schemes such as Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bima and the loan waiver.
The State government had also disrupted the essential electricity supply for farming, causing immense distress to the rural population, he said, noting that the growing dissatisfaction in villages was a direct result of the government’s lack of sincerity towards the farming community.
Opposing the new mobile application introduced for urea supply, he labeled it an anti-farmer policy. Calling the initiative a urea app drama, he said it was a conspiracy to hide the long queues of farmers from the world’s view. He argued that a government unable to provide fertilizers directly at shops was now attempting to deceive farmers with a mobile app to mask its own failures.
He reminded that during the 10-year tenure of the K Chandrashekhar Rao government, farmers never had to stand in queues for fertilizers. He attributed the current urea crisis to the Congress government’s lack of basic planning and vision.
“If the Congress had the same love for farmers that the former Chief Minister has in his heart, these problems wouldn’t exist. But this government lacks both love and sincerity,” he remarked, urging the government to stop its attempts to hide queues and to instead focus on the actual problem.
Demanding that the State government immediately supply the required amount of urea to farmers and stop creating unnecessary hurdles, Rama Rao called on the administration to work with genuine commitment for the welfare of the farmers rather than complicating their lives with such app dramas.
He further emphasized that the powers and funds of local bodies were constitutionally guaranteed to the Sarpanches. He clarified that government funds are public money, not the personal property of any leader, and that representatives should act as trustees “(Dharmakartas)”.
He highlighted that under the BRS regime, Palle Pragati transformed villages, earning Telangana 30 percent of national awards, whereas development had now come to a halt under Congress.
The meeting was attended by former ministers T Srinivas Yadav, Gangula Kamalakar and others.
