Medak: One person died and at least 15 others fell ill in a suspected food poisoning incident in Narsapur town after having lunch at One Palace Restaurant on Tuesday.

Those who ordered mandi reportedly fell ill soon after eating the meal and were rushed to different hospitals for treatment.

Sairam, 19, one of the affected persons, died while undergoing treatment at the Government Hospital in Sangareddy on Wednesday.

Police registered a case and an investigation is under way.

The incident has also raised concerns over the monitoring of hotels by Food Safety Department officials.
