Rajanna-Sircilla: Parents of students studying in Mandal Parishad Primary School, Kandikatkur of Illanthakunta mandal, on Saturday staged a dharna demanding the allocation of teachers to the school. Parents, led by Amma Adarsha School Committee president Battini Kavya, staged the protest by sitting on the road near the bus stand.
Speaking on the occasion, they said that though there were 85 students in the school, only three teachers were available. While one teacher has already been transferred, another one is going to retire by the end of this month.
“How could a single teacher teach lessons to 85 students?” they questioned.
Some three weeks ago, they submitted a representation to the Collector as well as mandal-level officials. However, there was no response from the authorities, they said and appealed to the administration not to spoil the lives of their children.
Asking the officials to deploy teachers to the school, they warned of launching a huge protest if the officials failed to appoint teachers. Police rushed to the spot and requested the parents to withdraw the protest.
Refusing to do so, they wanted Manakondur MLA Dr Kavvampally Satyanarayana to visit the spot and give assurance. The MLA, who was participating in CMR cheques distribution programme in mandal headquarters, visited the dharna spot and assured to provide teachers to the school. After this assurance, parents withdrew their protest.
