Hyderabad: More than 5,000 voters in the Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) were found missing from the 2002 voters’ list, triggering tension and anxiety among them.
The issue came to light recently in Secunderabad Cantonment when electors tried to track their names in the 2002-SIR voters list to fill in their details in the first column of the enumeration forms, and found them missing. The assistant electoral registration officer (AERO) of the Secunderabad Cantonment, M Devender, confirmed to Telangana Today and said, “A few voters whose names were found missing met me.”
He said polling booths 348 to 353 were in the Secunderabad Cantonment assembly constituency limits in 2002-SIR and later shifted to the Kukatpally Assembly constituency as part of delimitation in 2009. As a result, he said all the voters’ lists were found missing during the process of filling the enumeration forms.
“We have asked the electors not to panic due to missing their names, and now they can put all their details in the third column of the enumeration form. All the names will be added to the draft electoral rolls. But the electors, however, have to attach the document proof of any one of the 12 documents, which are prescribed by the Chief Electoral Officer, Telangana,” said the SCB official.
