Padmashali leaders want Adilabad Airport to be named after Konda Laxman

Adilabad: Telangana Padmashali Association state vice-president Betha Ramesh has demanded that the government name the proposed Adilabad civil and defence airport after freedom fighter Konda Laxman Bapuji.

He spoke to the media after paying tributes to Bapuji on his 14th death anniversary in Adilabad on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, Ramesh said Bapuji played a crucial role in the Telangana movement and in the formation of the separate State. He said the proposed airport should be named after the freedom fighter, who hailed from the erstwhile Adilabad district.

He also urged the government to declare October 27, Bapuji’s birth anniversary, as an official holiday for educational institutions in the region.

Community leaders Satyanarayana, Ashamma, Ushanna, Ravinder, Adellu and many others attended the programme.
